Day Camp Information - JULY 12-17th (combined with Residential Camp)

The mission of our Montreat College XC Day Camp is to provide our local running community an opportunity to continue their summer preparation while providing them a safe and fun-filled week of fellowship and supervised training!

 

Arrive On Time - End On Time

Campers are asked to arrive at the Black Mountain Campus by 8:00am and parents are asked to have their child picked up at 12:00 NOON!  Runners will be dropped off and picked up just below the Manor House on the Black Mountain Campus (parking lot between Manor House and soccer field).

What to bring?

All campers are asked to:

  • Come prepared to train (running shorts and proper running shoes)! 
  • Bring a towel
  • Bring a water bottle
  • Arrive with a positive attitude and willingness to learn and train!

What NOT to bring?

All campers are asked to NOT bring:

  • IPods or any other MP3/ Music player
  • Any valuables/ wallet/ purse/ money
  • A poor attitude and laziness!

Campers will learn and be exposed to:

  • The importance of following a coach's plan
  • Warm ups and Cool Downs
  • Difference between Dynamic and Static Stretching
  • Proper mechanics of running
  • What college coaches look for in high school runners
  • A variety of lectures from college runners and post-collegiate runners
  • Race strategies
  • Games and competitions


Each Camper will receive a cool, dry-fit camp t-shirt, an all-campers photograph on Lookout Mountain, swimming pool day, along with daily runs, lectures, and snacks!

We will have plenty of daily supervision and leadership with four coaches and members of Montreat College's cross country team.
