The Cavalier Distance Running Camp

Montreat, North Carolina

2010's Cavalier Distance Camp Recap and Photos

Montreat, NC-  The 2010 Cavalier Distance Camp once again wrapped up another week of challenging runs, amazing sights, and great Christian fellowship!

"I believe this week's camp was the best one we've had," said Coach Jose Larios, the third year coach at Montreat College and director of the CDRC.  "We had the best group of campers this summer.  God's truly blessed our week here in Montreat.  We can't wait to make 2011 even better!"

Among many other runs and activities, campers experienced an awesome day on our High Teams Ropes Course, a run at Mt. Mitchell (the highest peak east of the Rockies), and nightly worship services!

Here's what a few campers had to say about our week:

"Thank you so much for the awesome week at camp. I didnt want to leave.  I learned so much about running and worshiping.  Also thanks for the advice about what i should do about my race.  See you next summer!"

- Emily Smith, Sebring, FL.

"I'll be seeing you next year, I am hoping! I had so much fun, I wasn't ready to leave at all. I took everything I learned with me and it will be put to good use. You will be one of the first to know when 18:59 knocks on my door this fall! Thanks again! God is truly one AMAZINGGGG dude!"

- Jolee Paden, St. Joseph, Illinois

"From the novice high school runner to the elite, the Cavalier Distance Running Camp is for anyone who is willing to be challenged mentally, physically and spiritually. Everyday is packed with new scenery, challenges, knowledge and God's word. My student-athletes were impressed with the amount of one-on-one time, variety of workouts, lectures and how much they developed spiritually. Next year's running camp cannot come soon enough."

- Coach Bernie Martinez, Immokalee High School, Immokalee, FL

Coach's Testimonial

"The Cavalier Distance Running Camp exceeded all my expectations for what I wanted my team to get from a running camp.  The lectures were informative and useful.  The running trails were beautiful and varied in difficulty. The high ropes course was the best team building experience that I have ever been a part of with my team.  The nightly worship services helped me to renew my own faith and seemed to help everyone at the camp grow spiritually.  All the kids on my team want to come back next year!"

Dave Dunn, Head XC Coach, Warner Christian Academy, Daytona Beach, FL

How will this camp help me become a better runner?

We have gathered some of the finest Christian distance coaches around to provide you with great leadership and coaching.  Our campers will be motivated by our 2010 Guest Speaker/ TBA.  All campers will also be given a workshop on 'Helpful Advice on How to Choose a College' and 'The X's and O's of Financial Aid.'  Every camper will experience amazing runs on some of the finest trails in the country, and sit in some of the most pristine and therapeutic streams on campus- especially great after your training runs!

When is this exciting camp and what is the capacity?

The Cavalier Distance Running Camp will be held from July 12 - July 17th, 2010.  Currently, we are only able to host 100 campers, including staff, instructors, and coaches.  One of the exciting benefits of this camp is the team development that will come from the use of our high ropes and challenge course that will be led by expert facilitator, John Rogers, of Montreat College's Team Leadership Center.  John and his staff have an amazing gift of empowering organizations by exposing leadership qualities, and deficiencies, in a team-challenged environment.
