Coach's Testimonial

"The Cavalier Distance Running Camp exceeded all my expectations for what I wanted my team to get from a running camp.  The lectures were informative and useful.  The running trails were beautiful and varied in difficulty. The high ropes course was the best team building experience that I have ever been a part of with my team.  The nightly worship services helped me to renew my own faith and seemed to help everyone at the camp grow spiritually.  All the kids on my team want to come back next year!"

Dave Dunn, Head XC Coach, Warner Christian Academy, Daytona Beach, FL

"A high caliber training experience, in a Christ-centered environment..."

Welcome to Montreat, NC

Are you ready for an amazing summer running camp experience?

Then welcome to Montreat, NC!  With so many distance training camps all over the US, the staff at the Cavalier Distance Running Camp is thrilled to provide you with a high quality training experience in a Christ-centered environment.  This exciting camp is being held on the campus of Montreat College; it is located just 15 minutes east of Asheville and four miles from historic Black Mountain, NC, in the glorious Blue Ridge Mountains.  The Western North Carolina mountain region is a mecca of great running trails, outdoor activities, and breathtaking views.  The town of Montreat is also a center point for the world famous Mt. Mitchell Challenge, a forty mile endurance race that meanders through some of Montreat's most challenging trails.  Running, spiritual development, and fellowship- come see how this week can reshape your next cross country season, and possibly your life!

What is so different about our residential running camp?

Our mission is simple... not only will you receive a fun-filled week of training, but our staff is dedicated to developing the spiritual strength of your student-athletes as well.  Our camp has some of the most knowledgeable Christian coaches in both the college and high school ranks to ensure that your team leaves refreshed and confident, both physically and spiritually.  Throughout the week, our campers will experience nightly praise and worship, enjoy testimonial bonfires, and be able to network with other young Believers who also share a passion for distance running.  We are proud to offer a highly competitive training experience, along with the opportunity to share the Gospel.

How will this camp help me become a better runner?

We have gathered some of the finest Christian distance coaches around to provide you with great leadership and coaching.  Our campers will be motivated by our 2009 Guest Speaker/ TBA.  All campers will also be given a workshop on 'Helpful Advice on How to Choose a College' and 'The X's and O's of Financial Aid.'  Every camper will experience amazing runs on some of the finest trails in the country, and sit in some of the most pristine and therapeutic streams on campus- especially great after your training runs!

When is this exciting camp and what is the capacity?

The Cavalier Distance Running Camp will be held from July 13 - July 18th, 2009.  Currently, we are only able to host 100 campers, including staff, instructors, and coaches.  One of the exciting benefits of this camp is the team development that will come from the use of our high ropes and challenge course that will be led by expert facilitator, John Rogers, of Montreat College's Team Leadership Center.  John and his staff have an amazing gift of empowering organizations by exposing leadership qualities, and deficiencies, in a team-challenged environment.
